Trac-Tour de North: 500 Miles for Heather’s Heroes
This September, RSE’s very own Allan Dallas is gearing up for an extraordinary challenge of driving the entire North Coast 500 route… in a purple tractor.
From the 23rd to 27th September, Allan will swap horsepower for staying power, navigating the iconic Scottish route behind the wheel of his John Deere 2038R tractor in 5 consecutive nighttime drives.
This is not your typical road trip. The NC500 is often tackled by motorbikes, campervans and sports cars, but Allan’s choice of vehicle is anything but conventional. His trusty green tractor is being completely transformed, wrapped in the charity’s distinctive purple so that nobody can miss him as he travels through the Highlands. On the back, a large JustGiving link and QR code will make it easy for anyone who spots him to contribute directly to the fundraising campaign.
Allan will be on a mission to raise vital funds for a cause close to his heart, with all funds raised in support of Heather’s Heroes and in memory of his daughter in-law, Heather. The charity supports a network of causes that provide care, resources, and compassion to those facing their most difficult moments.
With a top speed of just 13.7 mph, Allan’s journey will test his patience, concentration, and comfort levels. Long hours in the driver’s seat and dark, remote stretches mean he’ll miss much of the NC500’s spectacular scenery, but his focus will remain firmly on completing the route in time for a celebratory finish at the Heather’s Heroes Highlands Fun Day at the Black Isle Showground.
The Fun Day will mark the arrival of Allan and the NC500 Cycle Team, also completing the physically demanding route over the course of 5 days, offering the community a chance to welcome them home and celebrate their incredible effort.
So if you happen to be along the North Coast 500 route and you see a flash of purple coming towards you, give Allan a wave from the roadside or a toot of the horn. And if you can, take a moment to scan the code, make a donation, and become part of the journey.
Please give what you can to Allan’s fundraising page, as every pound will keep the wheels turning and the fundraising growing. By donating, you’ll help the impact of Heather’s Heroes to reach more people, offer more support, and make a lasting difference in our local communities.
Any kind donations to Allan’s Trac-Tour de North challenge will be greatly appreciated and together, we can make a real difference: Trac-Tour de North – JustGiving
